The Power of Ownership

ree

That's Mine! No, Mine! These words are some of the first interactions we have as tiny humans. Sometimes as babies, we hear he word mine before they are even walking!

Ownership is a powerful thing. The single declaration of the word, "mine" establishes authority, ownership and creates a spaces for existence.

own·er·ship

/ˈōnərˌSHip/

noun

  • 1.the act, state, or right of possessing something

Throughout our lives we are eager to express, identify and share our ownership with the... world.

"Look at my new car."

"Hey, I have a new job now."

"That's my drink."

"Please get out of my chair.

That's my work station."

"My house address is....

Without hesitation we drive the stake of ownership into the various areas of our lives, until we shouldn't.

Well what do you mean?

Here goes...

We are excited when we get a car, a job, a house, a graham cracker or pack of fruit snacks, lol. So the word "mine," belongs in these transactions.

But what about these:

...My anxiety

...My sickness

..My stress

...My cancer

Why are we so quick to take possession of evil things that are meant to kill and destroy us. Why are we okay with inviting them to sit at our table with us and become part of our day to day interactions.

"Congratulations you are the proud owner of a cancer diagnosis!"

Literally- "Hell No." You didn't and you aren't going to catch me owning cancer or any other attempt to rob me of joy, health and peace in my life. My oncologist didn't even speak those words over me. In a whisper he said, that is what this is....

As I met what seems like someone from every department in the hospital, they didn't say what kind of cancer do you have? They said where is it at, what side is it on?"

There is power in the spoken word. You can take back your life and your atmosphere by evicting those things that don't bring life and liberty.

Now that does not mean that I don't have a fight and life is easy right now and I can just ignore the sickness that chases me, because folks, it gets rough.

But what it does mean is that I do no own cancer, it doesn't belong to me and it must leave. It can't have me, it is not my boss. I have authority over it and I win.

It also means that what ever you are struggling with can't have you. Don't let it. You have the authority to send it where it belongs- to the pits of hell.

Rise up, march on, be free. I am here for you. You are immensely loved. Forever.
